Aluminium passivation

Chemical, electroless passivation of aluminium with SurTec 650.
  • Aluminium
  • SurTec 650
  • Electrically conductive

Chemical, electroless passivation with SurTec 650 produces slightly iridescent conversion layers on aluminium. This results in very thin, very uniform layers.

This type of layer is used in apparatus engineering especially where corrosion protection is required but a conductive layer is essential at the same time – for example for electromagnetic compatibility – so that anodising cannot be used.

Aluminium Passivieren

Properties

  • Excellent corrosion protection, comparable to hexavalent passivation
  • Very suitable as a primer for paints, powder coatings and adhesives
  • Slightly iridescent, visible layers
  • Low surface resistance: < 5000 µOhm per square inch according to MIL-DTL-81706B
  • Heat-stable inorganic passivation layer
  • Suitable for high-alloy aluminium, castings and forgings

Applications

  • Aircraft industry
  • Space industry
  • Housing and apparatus engineering
  • Military industry
  • Primer for painted parts (especially recommended for outdoor use)
