Surface process

Electroless nickel plating for optical surfaces

Electroless nickel Optic – a special process for ultra-precision machining of optical surfaces.
  • Ultra-precision
  • up to 500 µm
  • Roughness < 1 nm Rz

With many years of experience and in-depth know-how, we coat precision components and optical surfaces with electroless nickel of the highest quality.

Thanks to their exceptionally high purity and homogeneity, our layers offer outstanding polishing properties with roughness values below 1 nm Rz. This makes them ideal for ultra-precision machining with monocrystalline diamond tools.

Properties

  • Layer thickness up to 500 µm
  • Constant thickness tolerance ± 2 µm, even on edges and corners
  • High phosphorus content (10–12 %)
  • Homogeneous layer structure, X-ray amorphous
  • High layer purity
  • Non-porous even with thick layers
  • Minimal internal stress
  • Guaranteed adhesion to the substrate
  • Vickers hardness as deposited: 500–580 HV
  • Precise masking of areas not to be coated
